What does Floor & Decor’s Pro program mean for an independent flooring retailer?
Executive finding
Floor & Decor’s public site leads homeowners with per-square-foot entry prices and project-based navigation, and gives professionals a named program with pricing, financing, logistics and client-facing tools. Most of those mechanics are listable, and an independent can publish a comparable list.
01 / Evidence · F2
Its PRO Premier page names Job Site Delivery, Free Storage & Pickup (“up to seven days of free storage”), Samples for Clients, and a Bid Room “for large projects of $10,000 or more.”
02 / Why it matters
Each mechanic is ordinary. Named together on one page, they read as a reason to make Floor & Decor the default supplier.
03 / The possible move
Publish a named trade program with three or four mechanics you can actually honor.
The question
What does Floor & Decor put in front of professional installers and homeowners on its public website, and what could an independent flooring retailer borrow without matching its scale?
What we can verify
- F2

Get rewarded.” It describes a Bid Room “for large projects of $10,000 or more” with “Pro-specific pricing”; PRO Premier Rewards points “on eligible purchases, even your clients’”; a PRO Premier Credit Card banner reading “Earn 5% Back paid as a statement credit”; and a list of services: In-Store Pro Team, Tax-Exemption, Job Site Delivery, Pro Training, Free Design Services, Free Storage & Pickup (“up to seven days of free storage”), Samples for Clients.

What we think it means
Analyst interpretation
The homeowner-facing site is organized around two decisions a shopper makes early: “what will this cost per square foot?” and “what room is this for?” Entry prices and project navigation answer both before any sales conversation (F1).
The Pro program is a bundle of ordinary logistics and finance mechanics given a name and a page: project pricing above a threshold, rewards, a credit product, delivery, short-term storage, training, design help and samples for the pro’s own clients (F2). None of these individually requires a national chain. Together, and named, they read as a reason to make Floor & Decor the default supplier.
The consumer financing page is unusually specific: thresholds, terms, issuing bank and the standard APR are all stated (F3). That specificity is itself a trust signal. An independent that offers financing through a partner can usually publish the same level of detail.
Our reading of the public financials is that growth in the most recent quarter came from new stores while sales at existing stores declined slightly (F4, F5). We infer that keeping professional customers loyal matters more, not less, in that environment. The company itself names “strengthen our Pro offering” among its investment priorities (F4), which is consistent with the prominence of the Pro program on the public site. The link between the two is our inference, not a statement from the company.
Moves worth testing
- Start by asking trade customers why they come back
Before changing the offer, ask five to ten of your most regular contractors what keeps them buying from you and what would make them switch. Then audit what your contractor-facing materials actually promise against those answers (compare F2).
- Publish a named trade program, even a small one
Pick three or four mechanics an independent can actually honor: hold-for-pickup or job-site delivery within a radius, a client sample kit, net terms or a financing partner, and a simple referral credit. Put them on one page with a name and a sign-up form. The goal is to be comparable on the list a contractor keeps in their head (compare F2).
- Show “from” prices per square foot on the homepage
For the three best-selling categories, state the lowest in-stock price per square foot and link to the range. Shoppers are being trained to expect it (F1). If prices vary by job, say what the figure includes.
- Organize the site by project, not only by material
Add kitchen, bathroom, whole-home and outdoor entry points that lead to the right materials and a request for a measure (F1). This also creates pages that can rank locally for project-based searches.
- Write the financing page like a disclosure
If a financing partner is in place, state the terms, thresholds, issuing institution and standard APR plainly, as Floor & Decor does (F3). Vague “financing available” lines are weaker than specific ones.
What we can’t verify
- Whether PRO Premier pricing is lower than independent suppliers in any specific market. Nothing on the public pages allows that comparison.
- The share of Floor & Decor sales that comes from professionals. Third-party earnings-call transcripts report a figure, but we did not verify it against the company’s own recording or filings, so it is not stated here.
- Whether the homepage promotions and the 15% new-cardholder offer are national or vary by store or region. The capture was made from a single U.S. location.
- The conditions attached to “Pro-specific pricing” in the Bid Room beyond the $10,000 threshold shown.

Homepage promotional banners read “Early Black Friday Deals are here.” and “Laminate from $1.29/sqft. Beauty that performs, priced to fit your budget.” A “What project are you working on?” module links to Pool, Bathroom, Kitchen, Backsplash, Shower and Outdoor project pages. Products are listed with per-square-foot prices (for example a DuraLux rigid-core luxury vinyl plank at $0.99/sqft) and an “Add Sample” action.
